About
San Diego Field Notes is a small independent guide to the county's coast, trails, and transit, written for people who go out on their own.
The notes here are deliberately specific about constraints: how low the tide has to be for the Point Loma rocks to open up, which hour the marine layer usually lifts, how far the walk is from the last bus stop. Those are the things that decide whether a trip works.
We do not sell tours and we do not take listings. Where a detail changes often, such as a fee, a shuttle, or a seasonal closure, we point to the agency that owns the number instead of publishing a figure that will be wrong by spring.
Corrections are welcome and get applied at the top of the page rather than in a comment thread.
